Contemporary Social Science is the first English-language social science academic journal sponsored by a local social science system in China, aiming to publish outstanding research results in the field of social science in China, and reflect overseas research on the development of western China and China's reform and opening up. Promote the internationalization of Chinese academic research results, and enhance China's international academic voice in the field of social sciences.

The importance of the journal lies in its unique role as an English-language journal sponsored by the Chinese Local Academy of Social Sciences in promoting international exchange of Chinese social science research.
