Critical Education is an internationally influential academic journal. Committed to making contributions to educational research in critical theory, methods, and empirical research. It is based on critical sociological education and welcomes research from other disciplines that attempt to critically examine the social relationships of education, such as history, philosophy, critical geography, political science, and public policy research.

This magazine focuses on and explores the impact of escalating social, political, and economic challenges, as well as how these shape education. Its core focus is on examining and breaking unequal power relations, including but not limited to class, gender, race, sexual orientation, disability, and colonialism. This journal adopts a broad definition of 'education', and submissions can focus on diverse education systems, policies, practices, knowledge, and evidence, covering various environments from schools, vocational education to higher education, as well as more informal forms of education, including educational dynamics in popular culture and digital culture.
